Samuel Update

I have to brag on Sam a bit. He is embracing his freshman year of high school. He’s smack dab in the middle of his teen years and doing well. Don’t get me wrong, we have our days. But overall, things are good.

This picture is of him in a hat that his friend Abi made him. (Abi is also pictured) Abi’s mom is my friend Nomi, they came over a couple of weeks ago and made chicken tacos. Oh my, they were good!
A couple of weeks ago the church we are attending had Judgement House. Judgement House is a story that is played out in a series of rooms. Samuel was an extra in one of the scenes. He didn’t have any lines, but he was committed to being an extra. After the first weekend, the key actor in the scene Samuel was in had a death in the family and he had to be gone for the 2nd weekend. The directors asked Samuel to step up in the role. The role was an important one in the production. It was the first and only time the gospel was presented in the scenes. I was so proud of him. He did an amazing job!
Samuel is playing basketball again this season. He wasn’t very excited about it, last year his team lost every game. And to a boy who has been competing since he could speak, (he would sit in his car seat at the age of 2 and yell for us to drive faster so the car beside wouldn’t pass us!) losing every game was disheartening. I made him play this year. I thought it would be good for him and wanted him to play a competitive sport. I’m so glad I did, his coach is terrific!! And they won last night. I wish I had video of me after the game. I was one crazy mom!
Are you a mom of a boy? I’ve had my eyes opened this week. He is a typical boy and wants to stay in his room by himself all the time. But this week, we have had to spend some time together shopping for clothes. It has done wonders for our relationship. It turns out he still likes spending time with me! Please remember, (and I say this to myself also) your boy wants to spend time with you, he wants to know you love him. Don’t let him down. don’t give him his way and just stay in his room. Love on him and let him know you love him.

Celebrating and decorating with purpose is my favorite thing to do. When I am not filling a tree with ornaments or throwing a birthday party for my golden doodle, I am being mom to a super cool tween son, the wife to a fine blue eyed man and selling real estate. I call northeast Arkansas home and when I am not loving on my people or celebrating in our space, I am using words to express myself here or on my podcast. Be sure to follow me!
