Food Friday

I love when my man smells like hickory!
Here is my main man smoking a pork butt and 2 chickens. We love a lazy weekend when we can smoke a bunch of meat, chop it up and freeze it. We did this very thing last weekend. We had wonderful BBQ sandwiches for a few days and now our freezer is full of BBQ for us to enjoy for a long while.
Ruby’s Coleslaw tastes great on our BBQ sandwiches.
(I know, I know…if you are from the western side of the Mississippi this is somewhat foreign to you, but those of us who love the eastern side of the muddy waters love the slaw on the bun…just sayin)

3 T Miracle Whip
1t mustard
1t vinegar
1/3 C sugar

Combine and stir until smooth and creamy. Right before serving, gradually mix it with 1/2 head of chopped cabbage (I use packaged coleslaw mix).

This recipe is in our family cookbook that our cousin Sarah, Julie and I made in 2004. We combined recipes from all our friends and families. It is a book full of our birth and married families, and our family friends and personal friends. It is an incredible cookbook that meshes all of us into one group…I just love it.
This recipe is from our longtime family friend, Gay. We all love her and I know she is reading this so, “Hey, Ouisie!” This was her sweet little mother-in-law’s recipe. It is the best coleslaw recipe, ever!

My Love Bandit and Favorite Foodie

Food Friday is not complete without a peek at my favorite foodie, Henry. He is sporting his sweet little shirt his Daddy bought him for Valentine’s Day in honor of me. The only size they had was 9 months…so here we are in September! The bandit thing is a little inside joke among us and this shirt was most fitting for our Henry. Julie actually found it and called Randall and told him to go get it! Randall went to 2 or 3 stores in different towns before he scored the shirt. So fun!

Happy Food Friday!

Celebrating and decorating with purpose is my favorite thing to do. When I am not filling a tree with ornaments or throwing a birthday party for my golden doodle, I am being mom to a super cool tween son, the wife to a fine blue eyed man and selling real estate. I call northeast Arkansas home and when I am not loving on my people or celebrating in our space, I am using words to express myself here or on my podcast. Be sure to follow me! I am the co-author of a blog called Life with My Sister and have a podcast called Abby As-Is. You can also follow me on Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest and YouTube.
