The man and woman traveled together
They met up with all the man’s work people
They missed the child
Last week Randall and I traveled to Minnesota for a company retreat. It was a nice change of pace. It was our first time to travel together without Henry. I willed him over to Juju for the week, after he had a brief stay with his Nana. I am so glad we have such sweet family who love our boy and take any opportunity to keep him for us. Sweetness.
Juju met us and handed over the baby boy. It was a struggle to have her give him up, but she did it and we were so very glad to see his sweet face. He heard our voices and went crazy. It was precious. Juju is a good second Mama. I willed her to him as I boarded the itty-bitty plane that took us to our little resort town in Minnesota. It sort of freaked me out so I texted her and said “Raise him well and tell him we love him!” ha.
After we got Henry loaded in the truck we headed to the Fort to see Marmie and the gang! Henry loved having his Marmie feed him Hawaiian Delight for the first time. She and Henry are quite the pair. He looks so much like her side of the family. They have an instant bond. I love it.
We got to eat dinner at TBEO’s new house. It is so pretty. I always love a good visit with my Aunt J and Uncle Mike. He is crazy about babies and loved seeing Henry. A dose of hometown family is always nice for this west Arkansas girl. (I may live in NEA but that is not where my heart is. ha!)
A trip to the Fort is not complete without a little time with this ole gal. She is my forever BFF. Melissa and I had not yet introduced Luke and Henry to each other. It was so cute and I am so glad we got this picture. We drove over to her house and hung out in her yard for a while and we all have the mosquito bites to prove it. It was worth it, I say! I love this girl like family. She and I have been through it all and know each other better than we like to admit. ha!
We had to introduce Henry to the historical section of the Fort. A ride on the cannon was a must. I have a photo of me riding this cannon when I was a senior in high school, but I can assure you it it is not near as cute and innocent as this snapshot is!
Henry and his Daddy under the gallows at Judge Parker’s Courthouse. Many men were killed at this exact spot. Sort of freaky and sort of cool at the same time.
My sweet baby boy at his great-grandfather’s grave site at the national cemetery in the Fort. I wanted to take him there and get this photo and I am so glad it turned out like it did. I love his expression and how reserved he acted/looked while at the cemetery. It was like he knew. My Pawpaw in the Army and a POW in WWII. He was a Godly and hard working man who died 4 days after my 5th birthday. I only knew him for a short time but his legacy lives on in me. My little boy looks just like him!
And here he is….Joe Cool in a real pool for the first time. I took him to Melissa’s parents pool and he loved it. I promised him that I would take him back before Summer’s end. His Juju bought him the little float. It was darling!
We are now back at home and getting into the normal swing of things…whatever “normal” is these days. Henry loves playing with his stuffed loon we brought him from Minnesota. It is their state bird and you know how his Daddy loves anything that has wings! My little Arkansas baby is proud to be back in his own bed and with his Mama and Daddy. He loved all the kisses and visits from all his friends and family. We are so blessed.
So, what fun things have you been up to?
