Are We There Yet?

Does this seem like Friday to you?

It does to me. Yesterday seemed like Thursday so at least I’m keeping a pattern going.

Vacations do this to me every year. I love leaving town and going somewhere different. The beach, Branson, my hometown. It doesn’t matter the where. I get excited anyway.

My kids are just as bad. They are packing their backpacks with their favorite toys and things to do while in a car for.ever. I have printed out bingo cards and have tic-tac-toe sheets ready to go for a Triple T Tourney!

Sound fun?

Anna loves tic-tac-toe, but sadly she isn’t very good at it. She just likes playing a game with someone, she doesn’t care about where to put an x or an o. I’m afraid she won’t fair very well in the Triple T Tourney!

We’ll also play the ABC game, and There It Is. But I don’t like There It Is, so I won’t be playing that one. It lasts a long time when Stephen is choosing “it”, and I don’t like things that are long and drawn out. Especially a long drive to our final destination!

Do you have any good car games? I’m up for ideas!

We will have the DS’s charged, my Kindle will be loaded with new books and the ipods will be charged and have new songs to listen to.

Did you notice that the above three things aren’t done yet? I guess my Sunday afternoon will be busy making sure everything gets done.

Today I’m cleaning house. I don’t know why, it will just get bad again before we leave. But it is what is being done today.

So, do you have any traveling tips? I could use some!

Celebrating and decorating with purpose is my favorite thing to do. When I am not filling a tree with ornaments or throwing a birthday party for my golden doodle, I am being mom to a super cool tween son, the wife to a fine blue eyed man and selling real estate. 1. Julie, even Bruce and I get bored on the drive between Memphis and home. It's only about 90 minutes and we're adults!!! I can't imagine trying to keep four kids busy.We pop a movie on Bruce's phone or laptop to keep Ashtyn occupied. and then we've come up with a couple of games for ourselves…1.) Golf. Number a piece of paper for 18 holes, then as you pass a car or it passes you, take the last number of the license plate as your score for that round and alternate in turns who takes the score. So with us, it's Bruce's score, then mine, then Bruce, then mine…. With your family, you may want to stop at 9 \”holes\” or only play in heavier traffic. We also play \”Name That Tune\” by flipping either through radio stations or put our iPod on shuffle to see the first person to guess the artist and the name of the song first. One point each if you want to keep points. So one person could shout out the artist and another the song and both score. Obviously works best on satellite radio (which we got tired of paying for) or the iPod because we can verify the name of the artist/song if we don't agree. If you contest an answer and win, you get the point. But if you contest a correct answer, they get TWO points. This game can keep us awake and alert, laughing and super competitive the whole drive sometimes. If you don't listen to alot of radio, you and Steven could burn a couple of mixed tapes/CDs off your music at home and keep hidden until the trip so it could keep the kids guessing.Hope that helps!!!

  2. See how many different state tags you can find. Maybe put initials of the person that finds each state and then total at the end of the trip to see who found the most states!or just buy a big box of dramamine and sleep the whole trip!YFATBEO
